Narlo vs Missive
Missive is a well-reviewed shared team inbox with internal chat and comments built on top. It solves a real problem for small teams — this page explains how Narlo's approach to privacy and shared context differs.
| Missive | Narlo | |
|---|---|---|
| Core model | Shared team inbox with internal chat/comments on each thread | Private individual mailbox — never shared by default |
| Who sees a connected mailbox | Any team member granted access to that shared mailbox | Only the person who connected it, unless they explicitly grant access |
| Shared business context | Basic contact notes/labels on conversations | A dedicated customer/organisation/quote/opportunity layer, shared workspace-wide by design |
| Built for | Small teams (roughly 3–20) coordinating on shared mailboxes | Relationship-driven sales teams tracking accounts over time |
| Pricing (per seat/month, approx., per Missive's own pricing page and review aggregators) | Free tier; $14 / $24 / $36 across paid tiers | Private beta — no public pricing yet |
If your team needs to coordinate inside a shared mailbox, Missive does that well
Missive's internal-comment-on-a-thread workflow is a genuinely useful way for a small team to coordinate on a shared inbox without external-facing reply-all chains. If a shared mailbox is actually what you need — e.g. a general sales@ or support@ everyone on the team should see — that's Missive's core strength, and Narlo isn't trying to be that.
The difference is where the privacy line sits
In Missive, once a mailbox is added and a teammate is granted access to it, they see everything in it. Narlo's mailbox connection stays private to the individual who connected it; what's shared instead is a separate business record — a customer, an organisation, a quote, an opportunity — that someone deliberately creates. A teammate can see "here's this account's status and history" without ever seeing the inbox that originated it.
What Narlo doesn't have, honestly
Missive's internal chat/comment system and multi-tier plan flexibility are more mature than anything Narlo currently offers for in-thread team discussion. If that's the specific workflow your team relies on, Missive is the better fit today.
